First speaker for 2019

Broadcasters, producers and and Creative Cities Convention stakeholders networked with leading figures from Cardiff’s public and private sectors at an event that we hosted with our 2019 partner Cardiff Council at the RSA (The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) in London.

We used the auspicious occasion to confirm our first keynote speaker. Patrick Holland, Controller of BBC2, will address conference in April and we are absolutely delighted to welcome him on board.

Huw Thomas, the young Leader of Cardiff Council, gave some insight into the passion that helped his team to clinch hosting CCC 2019 when he quoted in his welcome speech:

To be born in Wales,
Not with a silver spoon in your mouth,
But, with music in your blood
And with poetry in your soul,
Is a privilege indeed.

“In Passing” Brian Harris, 1967

A wide range of partners are giving their support to CCC 2019 which is being programmed around the theme ‘Let’s Be Friends’. At this our second conference, we will bring together leaders and emerging talent from across our industry (just days after Brexit – or not), to continue the conversation around the growth of UK talent and production, and people working in our industry outside London will have a chance to talk to one another about how they live and work.
